Before Your Surgery
Pre-Operative Instructions
Good preparation helps your procedure go smoothly and supports a comfortable recovery. Please review these general instructions before your appointment. Your care team may give you instructions specific to your treatment, and those always come first.
- If sedation is planned, follow the eating and drinking instructions your care team gives you before your appointment.
- If you will be sedated, arrange for a responsible adult to drive you home and stay with you afterward.
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Please skip makeup, nail polish, jewelry, and contact lenses on the day of surgery.
- Tell our team about all medications you take and any recent health changes. Do not stop any medication without consulting your physician or our team.
- Take your prescribed medications as directed, unless your care team tells you otherwise. Avoid smoking and alcohol before your surgery.
- If you develop a cold, fever, or other illness before your appointment, contact our office so we can discuss rescheduling.
